Tempered Heat Soaked Glass
Identical characteristics to tempered glass, additionally heat-soaked at 290 °C for 2 hours to screen nickel sulfide (NiS) inclusions and reduce spontaneous breakage risk.

Heat-soak process
- Tempered panes undergo a 4–5-hour oven cycle, including a two-hour hold at 290 °C.
- Heat forces panes containing nickel-sulfide inclusions to fail in the oven before installation.
- Risk falls from roughly 8 per 1,000 to 4 per 10,000 panes, around a 95% reduction, but is not eliminated.
Advantages
- The soak process does not alter the mechanical properties of tempered glass
- Forces panels with NiS defects to break in the oven, before installation
- Greatly reduces the risk of spontaneous breakage in service
- Ideal where glass replacement after installation is difficult or costly
- Retains tempered-glass strength, 290 °C heat resistance and 150 °C thermal-shock resistance
Cautions
- Cannot be cut, drilled, notched or edge-worked after tempering; controlled roller wave or bow may remain.
- Minimum size is 180 × 180 mm; confirm dimensions and installation clearances before production.
- Do not use a single pane for roofs, high-rise façades, floors, stairs or fire barriers.
